The Andorra Park Hotel was the chosen venue for an evening packed with excellent fine wines, organized by Bomar and Andorra Sotheby’s International Realty.
Undoubtedly a perfect pairing. A total of 80 people attending, all of them exclusive customers of Bomar (Bodegas Vega Sicilia’s distributor in Andorra), Andorra Sotheby’s International Realty and the Andorra Park Hotel, enjoyed the wines from the legendary winery with the Ribera del Duero denomination of origin.

The event was attended by the owner and CEO of Vega Sicilia, Pablo Álvarez, and enjoyed the cooperation of eight prestigious chefs from well-known restaurants in the Principality of Andorra.
The first wine to be tasted was a Valbuena 5º from 2011, a coupage of the Tempranillo and Merlot varieties with a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon, accompanied by dry rice with sea cucumbers and Norway lobster broth made by Fran Jimenez of Sport Hotels Resort & Spa.

The Vega Sicilia Único 2008, an elegant, pure wine, was paired with tender Andorra beef in red wine and apple noodles with raspberries, the creation of Christian Zanchetta, from El Rebost del Padrí.
The chef Josep Ramos, of Era d’en Jaume had the challenge of pairing with a Macán Clásico 2012, D.O. Rioja (exuberant red berries in the nose and powerful and sumptuous in the mouth). He opted for a Llorts casserole with brown bread croutons and sobrassada lollipops.
Then, Ramón Sasplugas, chef at Celler d’En Toni offered sardines with guacamole for tasting a Macán 2012, a deep, very well balanced wine with a mineral character.

The Toro, Pintia 2011, a simply spectacular wine, was the challenge for Miquel Canturri of the restaurant Minim’s who offered a pairing with duck’s liver coca bread, Roman pecorino cheese and rocket.
One of Vega Sicilia’s signature wines, the Ribera del Duero Alion 2012, was accompanied by a stewed oxtail carbonara Irish coffee with foam of local potatoes, a dish bearing the signature of Carles Flinch from Can Manel.
The final dish, kid ribs cooked at low temperature with wild mushrooms, green pistachio sponge cake, red berry jelly, its juices and truffles, designed by the chef Marc Mora of És Andorra, was set off beautifully by the Vega Sicilia Único special reserve, a sensual, intense and persistent wine.
The master pastry cook Patrice Bernard made a selection of desserts consisting of orange confit, mandarin cream, orange and citron confit, light white chocolate cream and spiced bread. A sweet, fresh wine, the Oremus Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos 2006, was chosen to conclude the evening.
